Online Open Seminar on Mosquito Control and Prevention of Mosquito-borne Diseases

Mosquitoes are commonly found in Hong Kong during rainy season. Some species of these locally found mosquitoes are vectors of mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue fever and Japanese encephalitis. These mosquito-borne diseases may be fatal or cause serious illness to people. To prevent the transmission of diseases by mosquitoes, places with stagnant water, construction sites and outdoor workplaces in particular, should be taken care to control the breeding of mosquitoes. In order to enhance the awareness of employees on mosquito-borne diseases, Occupational Safety and Health Council will hold a seminar on 20 April 2021. In the seminar, a representative from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department will talk about the transmission of dengue fever and Japanese encephalitis and outline the preventive measures in controlling the breeding of mosquitoes.
